A brief timeline (again)
I began playing guitar when I was 9 years old. I brought my older cousin’s hand-me-down, half-size acoustic guitar to my lessons at school. Besides the soreness of old rusty strings on my finger tips, I immediately fell in love with playing the guitar, and began irritating my parents with repetitive scale practising every night. 15 years later, I am lucky enough to own a few of my own (much nicer) guitars, and I am still irritating my family, friends, partner and dog, learning new things each day on my guitar.

My kind of guitar
I primarily play and teach on classical (nylon string) and acoustic (steel string) guitars. Though there are a number of different styles of music I like to play, a few of my favourites are contemporary classical, Bossa Nova (jazz-samba) and bluegrass. Like many other instrument-focussed musicians, I am perhaps too optimistic about my singing ability. I nonetheless love to sing while I play.

Why I love guitar
I am always grateful that I was taught to play guitar. It is a skill to practise and expand each day. It is something to share with others, or enjoy in solitude. It quietens the mind and brings serenity. It is exciting, there is always something new to learn. For these reasons, I am passionate about passing on what I know to others, a starting point for their own life-long musical quest.
